Woman charged with murder in fatal Ogden crash appears in court
Rochester, New York – Thursday Jennie Clark charged with murder in a crash that killed her husband appeared in court for an arraignment hearing.
She was indicted by a grand jury on charges including second-degree murder, vehicular manslaughter, first-degree reckless endangerment, aggravated DWI with a child passenger, DWI and DWAI.
According to police, Clark drove her family’s vehicle off of Colby Street in Ogden on July 4, hitting a pole. Her husband, Matthew Clark, died in the crash. Their three children, who were reportedly in the back seat, were not hurt.
Court papers say the events leading up to the crash were recorded on an iPhone by one of the children. During a previous court appearance, prosecutors said the video purportedly captured Clark asking “Do you want to die?” and saying she was going to run the vehicle into a tree.
“It’s important to note that this was not an accident,” Assistant District Attorney Amanda Balling said Thursday. “It was an intentional crash, a deliberate act, and that is why the grand jury has charged her with depraved indifference to human life, an utter disregard, a cold and callous act.”
Clark currently remains incarcerated in the Monroe County Jail.
