Indoor ice skating in Genesee Valley Park in Rochester is back again
Rochester, New York — People in Rochester can now enjoy the ice indoors at the Genesee Valley Sports Complex on Elmwood Ave.
Samantha Mendolia brought the kiddos ice skating. She’s even giving it a try.
“Ever since COVID, we are going back to the basics like ice skating, skating, biking, hiking, and all these things that we got away from. So it’s nice to do it again,” said Mendolia.
Beginner skaters can enjoy the ice with a balance buddy to help out. An indoor ice rink means that it’s climate-controlled so you won’t freeze like the ice.
Two years ago at age seven, Emily Organek started skating and playing ice hockey. She plays on the Junior Americans.
“It is just fun. I like skating with friends and my old coach,” said Organek.
Genesee Valley Sports Complex open skate times:
• Monday – Friday – Noon – 1:15 p.m.
• Saturday – 5 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.
• Sunday – 1 p.m. – 2:15, 2:30 to 3:45 p.m
It is $2 for kids 17 and under. Skate rental is $3. There are also family rates, a value pass and season passes available.
