Hamlin man dies after Sunday crash
Hamlin, New York — A Hamlin man has died after a crash over the weekend.
According to Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies, they were called to the intersection of Roosevelt Highway and Drake Road in Hamlin around 9:40 a.m. Sunday for the report of a two-vehicle crash.
A Toyota driven by Joseph O’Connell, 43, of Hamlin was traveling south on Drake Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign, deputies say.
According to deputies, the Toyota hit a pickup traveling east on Roosevelt Highway.
The driver of the pickup was not hurt. O’Connell was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Deputies say they were notified Wednesday that O’Connell died at the hospital.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
