Brockport, Rochester, New York – The Village of Brockport is offering a seasonal job opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and contributing to their community. The Department of Public Works is looking to hire a Seasonal Mowing Laborer to assist with grass maintenance and beautification efforts throughout the summer months. This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and comfortable operating lawn care equipment.
Job Responsibilities
The primary duties for this position include mowing and trimming grass in public parks and other designated spaces within the village. The hired individual will be expected to use riding mowers, push mowers, and trimmers to maintain green areas, ensuring they remain clean and well-kept. In addition to mowing, the laborer will be responsible for general groundskeeping tasks, such as edging, weeding, and clearing debris.
Safety is a key priority, and all work must be performed in accordance with established safety protocols. Equipment maintenance and proper handling will be required to ensure efficient operation throughout the season. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a valid New York State driver’s license and be able to operate mowing equipment effectively. Since the job requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, candidates should be prepared for physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. Reliability and punctuality are essential, as is the ability to work well within a team.
Additionally, all candidates will be subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing, in line with workplace policies.
Schedule and Pay
The Seasonal Mowing Laborer position offers a 29.5-hour workweek, with shifts running from Monday through Friday. The role provides competitive hourly pay of up to $21.00 per hour, making it a great seasonal employment opportunity for those looking to earn income while working outdoors.
