Vanbrederode and Cooney are competing for the 56th State Senate district

Rochester, New York – On Sunday, incumbent New York State Senator Jeremy Cooney (from the Democratic Party) and his opponent, Jim Vanbrederode (from the Republican Party), campaigned door to door in Gates. If they were to be re-elected or elected, both candidates discussed their priorities.

In the contest for the 56th Senate District, Jim Vanbrederode is hoping to replace Jeremy Cooney, who is currently serving as the state senator.

My career in the public sector spanned a total of 37 years. It was I who was responsible for providing the services. At no point in time did I play a role in the decision-making process behind the scenes? When I was 37 years old, I worked at a company that had a lot of fantastic programs. I see a lot of things that are funded by the government that are detrimental to the areas that we live in.

Illegal immigration and inflation are two of the issues that Vanbrederode is concerned about.

“The state of New York has to create an environment where a business can thrive,” Vanbrederode explained to reporters. Less constraints are what we require. They require a secure environment in which to carry out their operations. You can see the Walgreens stores that are leaving the entire area. They are leaving the area altogether. We’ve witnessed businesses shutting their doors as a result of all the criminal activity.

A primary concern for the former Gates Police Chief was also the protection of the general public.

“We see the car chases, we see the thefts going on, we see the carjackings,” Vanbrederode explained to reporters. “I believe that people are afraid, and I believe that they ought to go out and vote on November 5.” In the event that you are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs, you should cast your ballot on November 5th. This is the one opportunity you have to alter the path that we are going to take right now.

The day of the election was only a few weeks away, and Vanbrederode and Cooney were out and about delivering their messages to voters in the Gates district.

“I went on to college and law school and came back and have wanted to give back to my town,” Cooney said about his past. “I have been a member of the community.

In addition, the incumbent Democrat voiced concern for the safety of the general public.

“We do have a neighborhood safety problem in our community,” remarked Cooney in response. “When it comes to some of those things that we have been discussing, such as car thefts and severe gun violence, Rochester has been disproportionately affected by these issues. However, we have been working on addressing such concerns. In point of fact, we have filed laws on both of those fronts because we recognize the problem. However, we also need to address the underlying reasons, which are poverty, low educational outcomes, and a lack of access to healthcare.

The protection of women’s rights to choose and the affordability of housing are two other issues that Cooney has expressed worry about.

“The way to break that cycle of poverty is to create a generational asset,” according to Cooney. “Homes can do that if we get people out of these slums and into their own homes, and they can actually pass that on to their children, we can break that cycle, and hopefully you have a more prosperous community for everyone.”

Cooney and Vanbrederode were both questioned about what they believe differentiates them from one another and what they possess in common.

Cooney expressed his belief that both of them have a concern for Rochester. “I believe that to be very legitimate. However, the manner in which we arrive at our destination, as well as our capacity to persuade Albany’s political system and provide outcomes for the people who reside in this town, are very different. The record that I have is one that I am very proud of. I have the belief that I am bringing a new generation of leadership to Albany on behalf of Rochester, which is my city, and I want to bring that positive level of leadership to Albany. Putting things under the rug and forgetting about them is not something that this organization does. “We are not only acknowledging the difficulties we face, but we are also presenting potential solutions to eliminate these issues.”

“We both want safe families, right?” according to Vanbrederode. We are all looking for secure areas. The prices of the items should be reasonable. On the other hand, the problem is that we have quite different ideas about how we are going to get there. The belief of how we are going to arrive at our destination is where we diverge from one another. With that being said, I believe that at the end of the day, we all want the same thing: we want a neighborhood that is secure. No one wants to be spending exorbitant amounts of money for things like rent, tuition, and gasoline at this moment in time. What are the steps that we need to take to get there, and which policies are going to be of the most assistance to us?

“Well, I think we’ve been very specific about a number of issues,” stated Cooney in response. Not only have we been conversing, but we have also been working. You are aware that our adversary has informed us about everything that is going wrong in our community; yet, they have not brought to our attention the opportunities that exist for us to improve and compete more effectively.

It’s 61 years old for me. Vanbrederode stated, “I have a great deal of experience in terms of life.” “I have been in the trenches,” I said. I’ve had the opportunity to hold the hands of folks whose loved ones were killed without any reason. For me, I have been there. I’ve attended the funerals so far. It has been brought to my attention that these flawed policies were directly responsible for these catastrophes. It is not true that my opponent has that kind of life experience. I am the parent of two children, and I have been responsible for their upbringing and education. I am familiar with the experience of having to pay tuition as well as the cost of my children’s accommodation as they are now looking for cheap home. It would be a dream come true for me to visit Albany and put into practice the lessons I’ve learned as a parent. I have a wealth of life experience, and I would love to go there. It’s a pleasure to meet Mr. Cooney. As far as I am concerned, he does not possess nearly as much of the life experience that I do. Despite the fact that he is a relatively young man, I do not believe that he has been put to the test as of yet. It’s important to note that he does not yet possess the same level of witness that I do, as someone who is 61 years old.

In their respective statements, both candidates emphasized the significance of voting in elections.

To quote Vanbrederode, “Your vote is the only way you can make a difference,” and he said this.It is imperative that you exercise your right to vote, regardless of the options available to you, in order to take part in democratic processes. One of the most fundamental aspects of our democratic system in the United States is that every individual have the freedom to exercise their right to vote. In order for you to have the liberty to exercise your right to vote, there have been people who have given their lives. You are a spectator if you do not participate in the voting process. You have just cast your vote. It appears that you have just voted to keep everything the same. The significance of these elections is something that I simply cannot stress enough. You need to get out and vote if you want things to change, if you are unhappy with what is happening in your area or with the things that are costing you, and you need to have an understanding of who the candidates are, what they stand for, and what they intend to do once they are elected to office.

“Don’t take anything that you read for granted,” Cooney advised all of the readers.”Oh, New York is a blue state,” everyone responds after hearing that. Anything and everything has already been decided. That is complete and utter nonsense. The right to vote is guaranteed to each and every citizen of the United States. We want to make sure that everyone’s views and ideas are heard and counted, regardless of whether we are talking about the White House or the State House. People who fought and lost their lives for our right to vote have been around for centuries before us.
