Lollypop Farm is in need of community assistance to restock the pet pantry
Perinton, New York – As winter draws near, Lollypop Farm is in critical need of donations of one essential resource.
Although Lollypop’s community pet pantry appears to have plenty of shelves, they are now completely out of dry dog food.
Lollypop Farm Intake and Resource Counselor Catie Donahue stated, “We have posted a plea to hope the community can make some donations, to go back into the community to help those who are struggling.”
Getting pet food to those in need is greatly aided by the pantry.
“This pantry is for pet owners who may be having some financial difficulties,” Donahue stated. “Whether that be financially or struggling with transportation to go out and get food.”
By completing an easy request form, anyone can have access to the pet pantry.
According to Donahue, shortages normally occur in the fall.
Donahue stated, “Kids are returning to school and college, so maybe families are not having as much income in the home as they’re used to.” “They might need a little extra assistance with that stuff.”
This year alone, the shelter has sent over 47,000 pounds of food to nearly 11,000 households.
Donahue expresses hope that their request for assistance won’t go unanswered.
“Fortunately, our community is amazing, so when we post a request for food, people respond pretty quickly,” Donahue said. However, donations are always needed to keep up with the new folks who could require assistance because we receive new applications on a regular basis.
