Rochester, New York – Cara Biddlecom has been named the new CEO of the Girl Scouts of Western New York.

The former Girl Scout from Western New York possesses a bachelor’s degree in sociology from The Evergreen State College and a master’s degree in public health behavior from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Biddlecom has two little children under her care. Her family was committed to education and community service, and her parents were lifetime educators in Western New York.

“Cara offers an impressive background in innovation and leadership in public health, together with a wealth of expertise. “She is a great fit for our organization because of her strategic management abilities, dedication to equity, and capacity for forging strong partnerships,” said Lynn Lubecki, president of the GSWNY board of directors.

Biddlecom has held a number of executive roles. The most recent one was as an Interim Public Health Director at the Oregon Health Authority, where she oversaw a staff of more than 1,000 workers and provided support for more than 100 programs that provided care to all 4.2 million residents of Oregon.

In his capacity as CEO, Biddlecom will be in charge of all facets of GSWNY’s operations, including outreach to the community, program development, and strategic planning. According to GSWNY, Biddlecom is concentrated on improving the organization’s programming to better suit Girl Scout requirements. These programs include those pertaining to STEM education, mental health, and civic involvement.

Biddlecom declared, “I am dedicated to broadening our outreach throughout the entire Western New York region and making sure that every young person in our community has the chance to become a leader in their own right.”
