RCSD announces transition to remote learning

Rochester, New York – Beginning on Thursday, the Rochester City School District will continue with remote learning.

According to the school district, the decision is the result of the shortage of staff and substitutes and is a temporary measure.

The ability to educate and transport children in a safe, efficient and orderly manner has been directly impacted, RCSD officials said. Several hundred teachers and staff have called out this week because of illness and quarantine.

On Wednesday staffing shortages impacted busing to and from city schools and prompted it to combine some routes, , the district said

The RCSD anticipates a return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 11.
