Local people react to AG’s report
Rochester, New York – “My reaction to those findings was that it was heavily, heavily disgusting,” Jacob Moore says, who was a staunch supporter of Governor Andrew Cuomo. “You’re always going to support someone who gets behind the camera and basically says what you want to hear, but now that these allegations have come to light, I’m no longer supporting that. That’s just disgusting.” Attorney General Letitia James’ report supporting the sexual harassments claims against him changed Moores mind.
Rochelle Donoghue also thinks the accusations are disturbing and says the investigation is a win for women everywhere. “It’s a great day for women knowing that they are able to come out and their voices are being heard,” she said.
However, some Cuomo supporters call the Attorney General’s report a witch hunt. “I think it’s political,” said Clara Pugh from Rochester. “I just think he’s a wonderful governor,” said Nettia Yant from Irondequoit. “For political reasons, they just want to get rid of him.”
Several people have different opinions when it comes to whether or not the Governor should step down the community:
“I believe he should step down and let somebody else take over. It’s time for a change,” said Donoghue.
“I think women should be heard and I think that if the Governor is sexually harassing women, justice should prevail,” said Jane Harper from Rochester.
“I don’t feel like he should resign because I think he’s being honest about what he does and, and I just feel like he’s being very sincere,” said Yant.
“We have to separate the man who led us through COVID from the man who’s doing this behind the scenes, and we need him to resign now,” said Moore.
