Elmira’s Street Painting Festival is canceled due to the rain
Elmira, New York – The Street Painting Festival in Elmira is canceled due to the rain. The remainder of the events connected to the festival was canceled yesterday because of the weather.
“The Elmira Street Painting Festival is an art-filled, family fun weekend celebrating creativity,” organizers said. “Street painting, also commonly known as street art, is the activity of rendering artistic designs on pavement such as streets, sidewalks, and town squares with impermanent materials,” they continued.
If you’re traveling through the area, there are temporary road closures you’ll want to be aware of (until Sunday, July 18th at 7 PM). N. Main from Gray Street to Church Street and E. Gray Street from Lake Street to Baldwin Street.
According to Elmira Downtown Development’s Jennifer Herrick executive director for Elmira Downtown Development, it is good to be back around people again.
“This is what our organization does best,” said Herrick. “We gather people we celebrate what’s happening in the downtime district and support our small businesses. So, it just, it feels really good bringing and seeing people back into our downtown.”
The Elmira Music in the Park Concert is canceled.
