Henrietta, New York — Little Jett is almost 2-years-old now, and he has progressed a lot since he was deprived of oxygen at birth.

“He immediately was taken and rushed to the NICU to do cooling therapy,” said Jett’s mom, Megan Culkin. “He then became – he then had a lot of seizures. They were uncontrollable at first.”

According to his parents, Jett’s epilepsy and cerebral palsy are more controllable now with medication.

“He’s mad when he knows he’s not able to pick up a toy that he wants to pick up,” said his dad, Jordan Pinson. “Or roll over, or sit up, or just stand there by himself and just play with you. That’s the worst part about it all.”

“You ask him to do something,” said Culkin, “and he tries his hardest to do it, but his body might not cooperate with him at the time.”

His parents say the medical challenge can be costly, and that’s why friends are holding a fundraiser this Saturday.

“What we’re trying to raise money for is stem cell therapy and intensive therapies that can help him hopefully walk or just do what he’s capable of, or trying to do,” said Culkin.

Until then, Jett can accomplish much with his big smile.

“We were told we might not ever see him smile,” said Culkin, “so it just means that much more to us.”

It’s a smile that will touch the hearts of everyone he meets.

“Anybody that sees Jett, they just say he’s just got the best smile, and it’s contagious,” said Culkin. “And it just means so much that people don’t even know him and want to help him.”

The fundraiser is happening from 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Moose Lodge on West Henrietta Road.
