Rochester, New York — Due to the number of COVID cases, Strong Memorial Hospital is making changes to its visitation policy that goes into effect at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20.

Compared to two currently, patients in most parts of the hospital will be allowed one designated visitor throughout their stay.

According to the latest changes, patients in the emergency department are not allowed any visitors. Currently, they are allowed one.

Pediatric patients can continue to have two visitors. Visitation exceptions remain in place for all patients.

“Limiting visitation is a safety precaution the hospital has taken several times during the pandemic to reduce the risk of COVID exposure when cases are surging. We recognize this temporary change will be disappointing for patients and their loved ones and will expand visitation again as soon as it is safe to do so,” according to a statement.
