Rochester, New York — One of the top 11 weird and wonderful Christmas trees in the county is Rochester’s Genesee Keg Tree.

Timeout has recognized the Rochester staple for its tradition, creativity and the work put in behind the scenes to build the brewery’s beauty.

The seven-year tradition was continued with over 500 half-barrel kegs stacked 27 feet high and decorated with 20,000 lights.

“Genesee Brewery has been lighting up Rochester, New York’s High Falls district with its keg tree since 2014,” Timeout said. “Over 500 half-barrel kegs, stacked 27 feet high, are adorned with 20,000 lights and topped with a rotating neon Genesee sign. After a year off due to the pandemic, the keg tree is back for 2021. The brewery’s on-site pub, the Genesee Brew House, is hosting a series of events called 12 Days of Keg Tree, which includes brunch with Santa and the release of a holiday cinnamon cream ale. We’ll toast to that!”

Rochester’s keg tree is joined by another New York State tree, the Glass Ornament Christmas Tree at the Corning Museum of Glass.
