Rochester Red Wings organize an Intentional Walk to benefit nearby charity

Rochester, New York – Through their third annual Intentional Walk, the Rochester Red Wings are raising funds and awareness for local children’s charities that benefit the community.

Chris Lopez made progress of his own on Good Day Rochester on Tuesday morning, aiding the Wings in achieving their main objective.

“We do this every year throughout the six-game homestand,” said Dan Mason, general manager of the Red Wings. “The front office is committed to walking 500 miles over the course of these six days.”

The walk will benefit RocDog, Wegmans Child Life Program, and Golisano Children’s Hospital.

“This year, we’re initiating a match for up to $10,000 of what you’re going to bring in,” says Linda Lovejoy, a corporate community relations manager for Wegmans.

Every year, Wegmans searches for fresh organizations and initiatives to support.

“Everybody knows Golisano’s Children’s Hospital,” Lovejoy said. “But they might not know about the Child Life Program, which brings comfort and joy to hospitalized kids. The RocDog program brings therapy dogs to patients.”

Starting on Tuesday and lasting through the last out of Sunday’s Red Wings game, Innovative Field will host the Intentional Walk.
