Rochester-area pharmacies are now stocking the updated COVID-19 vaccination

Rochester, New York – The Finger Lakes Region has observed an increase in hospitalizations and COVID-19 cases in the past month. Based on state data, Monroe County has been the site of the majority of those cases.

In the interim, several neighborhood pharmacies are now carrying the new COVID-19 vaccine. This applies to walk-in or appointment-only Wegmans and CVS locations. According to their website, appointments can be made at Walgreens pharmacies as early as Thursday.

To find out more about the status of the virus’s transmission, we with Dr. Paul Graman, a specialist in infectious diseases from URMC.

According to Dr. Graman, hospitalizations for COVID-19 are somewhat declining at URMC’s hospitals right now, and the Rochester region has probably already seen its high for the season.

A representative for Rochester Regional Health stated that the organization concurs with those figures.

over the revised vaccination, there has been discussion on a national level over people’s reluctance to receive the shot and concerns that it would exacerbate viral illness. According to Dr. Graman, that isn’t true.

Not at all. The idea that receiving the vaccination will exacerbate COVID-19 is, in my opinion, mostly untrue. These vaccines are among the best that we have ever got against any kind of infection. Everyone should get vaccinated against COVID-19, but those who are at higher risk should specifically do so. This includes elderly individuals, those with underlying medical conditions, and those with diabetes, heart illness, or lung disease, for example, who may be more vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 and hence require extra precautions, according to Dr. Graman.

The FDA has already given the improved COVID-19 vaccine approval for use in people six months of age and older.
