Police officer injured while making an arrest in Rochester

Rochester, New York — On Saturday, around 2 p.m, a Rochester Police officer was taken to the hospital after he was injured making an arrest.

According to police, this happened when officers responded for a reported robbery at a convenience store on Conkey Avenue near Avenue C.

Upon arrival at the scene, the suspect tried to run. While taking him into custody, one officer was injured in the lower body, police said.

According to police, it ended up not being a robbery, but customer trouble over an ATM incident.

A 28-year-old man, Shaukyll Adams, reportedly had a loaded handgun on him. He was charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The officer was treated at the hospital. Adams was taken the Monroe County Jail.
