Outdoor ice rinks are open throughout Monroe County

Greece, New York — Rinks in the town of Greece, Webster, Irondequoit, and several rinks at parks located around Monroe County are open for skating — weather permitting.

The Greece town ice rink continues to add to its ice rink facility. There are 100 pairs of ice skates to use, outdoor heat lamps, a heated hut, and even an ice resurfacer. The town says the new ice resurfacing machine will help keep the ice in the best shape possible.

It’s wrapped with images of former NHL star and Greece native Brian Gionta.

Gionta donated the ice skates for residents, and Locker Room Sports has offered to sharpen the blades.

Parents, grandparents, and the kids are making the most of Rochester winters and hitting the ice.

“My granddaughter is 10, my grandson is 5 and my niece Laura is 16,” Carolyn Bauman said. “They love it because they do not get a chance to skate outside at all so they are really excited about it.”

“Well, I enjoy skating around and we went here last year and we had a blast,” Gabby Zambuto said.

This is a fun way to embrace the cold and get some fresh air with more than two months of winter to go.

The Greece Town ice rink is open for Greece residents Monday through Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 to 8 p.m.

Other outdoor ice rinks open for skating include the rink at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, Ellison Park, Highland Park, Churchville Park, Irondequoit Town Hall, and Webster Parks and Recreation.
