Gates, New York – A pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by several vehicles in Monday’s night incident on I-390 in Gates, local authorities confirmed.
According to the Monroe County Sherriff Office, the fatal incident took place on Interstate 390 Monday night around 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Chili Avenue.
The deputies confirmed that the pedestrian was walking along the expressway for still unknown reasons when he was struck by several vehicles. He died at the scene.
The authorities didn’t immediately provide the identity of the 30-year-old male victim.
There is ongoing investigation that should reveal why the man was walking along the road and what led to the fatal incident.
Deputies say all the vehicles involved stopped and the drivers were cooperative. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
Portion of the expressway was closed while investigators were conducting investigation. It was reopened early Tuesday morning.
