One man died after shooting on Genesee Street
Rochester, New York — On Thursday around 7 p.m. a man in his 20s was standing on the corner of a southwest Rochester street when he was approached by multiple gunmen on foot who opened fire.
The man was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
According to Capt. Frank Umbrino from Rochester Police the victim was shot multiple times. The victim’s identity is still not released.
This incident is just a block from where an 18-year-old and 14-year-old were shot on Saturday. The 18-year-old, Christopher Wood, died.
According to Umbrino, police are investigating whether Thursday’s homicide is related to Saturday’s due to the proximity.
Uhere were several people who witnessed Thursday’s murder and encouraged anyone with information to call 911, Umbrino said.
“Each murder is one phone call away from being solved,” he said. “We can do what we can do, but we need people to cooperate.”
