NYS Women of Distinction Award goes to a local community leader

Rochester, New York — On Friday a local woman was honored for years of giving back to her community.
The New York State Senate named Michelle Daniels as a New York State Woman of Distinction. The award belongs to women in the state who have helped build a stronger, New York.
On Friday Daniels was recognized for her extensive work in Rochester. She is awarded for helping develop the Frederick Douglass Club at School 12 and advancing Douglass’ legacy. Additionally, Daniels helped organize efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to help distribute food, toiletries, and other essential items.
According to Daniels, honor holds special meaning.
“This was personal because it has a lot to do with the work I’ve done with children,” she said, “and that is my first love, to make sure that I give opportunities and access to resources to the children of this state.”
Previously she received the key to the city.
