Monroe County planning to reopen mass vaccination sites
Monroe County, New York – According to Monroe County Officials, they are getting ready for a surge of people who will soon be eligible for COVID-19 vaccine booster shots.
After looking at the data, they expect the influx of people in early October, continued eligibility over the following weeks, and then the number of those who need that third shot to peak in early 2022, County Executive Adam Bello says.
Bello says the county will need to open its own mass sites to accommodate all those looking for boosters with other large vaccination sites like the Dome Arena and Convention Center no longer in operation.
“Right now we’re in the process of evaluating locations and will be making announcements regarding those soon to make sure the vaccine is easily accessible and convenient for our residents,” he said. “But today, our biggest need is the staff. Our goal is to continue our neighborhood-based clinics as well as to operate these mass vaccination sites. We need to hire at least an additional 100 staff members by the first week for October.”
According to Bello, they’ll need nurses, EMTs, and clerks who help with administrative work.
