Man taken into custody after an altercation involving discharge of a weapon
Rochester, New York – On Thursday night, a parolee was taken into custody after fleeing the scene of a fight in Rochester, and allegedly firing a handgun into the air, police say.
Officers from the Rochester Police Department went to Strong Street on Thursday night after someone called and said there had been a fight with a possible gun.
According to the police, Angel Soto-Santiago, 26, got into a fight. When he went back to his car, he allegedly fired a 9mm pistol into the air and fled the area.
Police tracked down Soto-Santiago and detained him before transporting him to the Monroe County Jail, since he had been released from prison earlier in the year.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and prohibited use of a weapon.
Police said they have found the Taurus 9mm pistol they assume was used in the shooting incident.
