Man crashes into bridge with child in car driving while intoxicated
Wayne County, New York – According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, on Friday night a 28-year-old man struck the Armitage Road Bridge in Galen with his motor vehicle.
When officers arrived at the scene they located Stephen Verstreate, driving while intoxicated. He was allegedly operating a motor vehicle when the brakes failed and he struck the bridge. He reportedly had a four-year-old child with him during the crash.
His following charges include; inadequate brakes, Leandra’s Law, driving with a .08% BAC or greater, driving while intoxicated, and endangering the welfare of a child.
It was reported his blood alcohol content was .13%, he was taken into custody at the scene. He is scheduled to appear in the Galen Town Court on August 11th, to answer to the charges.
According to police, no injuries were reported.
