3 teens arrested after multiple carjacking incidents in Rochester

Rochester, New York – On Friday three teens are arrested after multiple carjacking incidents in Rochester.

According to police, a 71-year-old, male, was washing his car at his residence on Lake Avenue when a group of teens pulled up to him in a stolen vehicle. One of the teens held the man at gunpoint and stole his vehicle. Both vehicles fled the scene together, the victim was not injured.

Later, an officer spotted both vehicles in the area of Bay Street. The officer was able to locate and arrest the suspect who was in possession of the carjacked vehicle on Vermont Street. A few minutes later, an officer spotted another stolen vehicle taken from a residence in the county.

Three teens ran after abandoning the vehicle on Bowman Street. After a brief foot chase, the juvenile suspects were taken into custody.

According to Rochester Police Department Patrol Section Investigations, a 15-year-old male is charged with robbery and grand larceny along with a 16-year-old, male also charged with robbery and grand larceny. These charges stem from the armed carjacking on Lake Avenue.

Investigators charged a 14-year-old male with criminal possession of the stolen property, he was also charged with grand larceny by Brighton Police based on a separate incident.

All three teens were remanded to secure detention and stolen vehicles have been returned to their owners.
