Large number of dead fish along Lake Ontario

Rochester, New York — According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, mass of dead fish causing a stink along Lake Ontario and Rochester City.

The DEC explains that this is common for this time of the year to occur.

According to the DEC in spring fish start moving closer to shore where the water temperature can dramatically change, causing die offs.

Smaller fish, like alewife and round goby, are more susceptible, DEC said.
