Gov. Hochul still not confirming Buffalo Bills stadium funding in budget
Albany, New York — As the New York State budget deadline looms, Buffalo Bills fans are waiting to see if it will include funding for a new stadium.
The New York Post reported the state would help foot $1 billion of the proposed $1.4 billion stadium, earlier this month.
On Monday, Governor Kathy Hochul was asked if now was the right time to spend potentially $1 billion of taxpayer dollars funding a Buffalo Bills stadium.
“Where did you hear that $1 billion for the Buffalo Bills?” she replied.
When told it had been reported, Hochul replied: “Ok, ok. I would say, ‘Not negotiating in public. All will be told at the right time.’ Thank you.” She then left the press event.
According to Hochul, the stadium funding could be in the budget. During an event in Buffalo on Friday, she said that there’s also economic development money in play.
