Following Trump’s victory over Harris, some local voters express surprise and a willingness for change

Rochester, New York – Following President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, voter sentiment is strong.

Trump supporters said they are ready for a new chapter, while Harris supporters expressed astonishment and sadness over the result.

In this election, Trump was the obvious option for Greece’s Don Lebeau.

“I was very happy with the way the election came out,” he stated. “I think the country will be better for it.”

Other voters, including Marianne Scott of Irondequoit, were surprised by Harris’s lack of support.

Scott remarked, “To put it mildly, I am disturbed.” “I am holding back my bad words about how I feel, because it is not going to help.”

According to Trump supporters, the status of the economy plays a significant role in their voting decisions.

Greece’s Debbi Persichilli stated that she would not make a decision until November 5.

According to Persichilli, “I woke up that day and had a strong feeling that I wanted to vote for Trump.” He will help the economy, in my opinion. It was evident from his past that he had done so.

“I just decided that we needed a change because of the way everything has gone up, including the price of groceries, gas, and utilities,” Lebeau said.

Since women’s rights are a major concern, a large number of voters turned out on election day to pay tribute to Susan B. Anthony, the pioneer of women’s suffrage, at Mount Hope Cemetery.

After voting on Tuesday, Chris Farnum and his spouse put an “I Voted” sticker on Anthony’s grave and returned on Wednesday, feeling defeated.

“To be honest, I believe that as a country, we failed these women and ourselves,” Farnum stated. “Susan B. Anthony was aware of the long term. She never saw the promised land, and I hope my kids will grow up in a more open nation with better policies.”
