Elmira Dandy’s tobacco and lottery licenses are suspended
Elmira, New York – Chemung County Attorney M. Hyder Hussain said that after multiple infractions, the retailer’s license to sell tobacco goods has been suspended at the Dandy #24, which is located on East Church Street in Elmira.
Hussain said that NY Tax and Finance had suspended the license for “repeated violations of age-restricted sales laws” in line with Article 13-F of the New York State Public Health Law.
According to Hussain, the Dandy provided tobacco products to minors during three compliance checks conducted at the location on September 20, 2021, August 11, 2022, and April 22, 2024, which led to the suspension.
Hussain added that in spite of fines and prior compliance training and instruction, the third legal violation took place at the site.
This has led to the location’s retailer’s tobacco and vapor product registration being suspended for a period of one year.
Hussain said that the state had suspended the lottery license for the Dandy site, which is required under New York State law, in addition to the tobacco license suspension.
