Mayor Lovely Warren stated that with this act, the city aims to be as transparent as possible.

“I continue to share our community’s outrage for the treatment of this child and have ensured that she and her family have been connected to the support they need though our Person in Crisis team,” said Warren. “I have also asked Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan to complete her investigation quickly so we can take the necessary actions to better protect and serve our entire community. Additionally, we await the Police Accountability Board’s review of this matter.”

One officer is suspended following the Jan. 29 incident, and two others were put on administrative leave.

The head of the Rochester Police Union said it seemed that the officers involved did not breach protocol after the publication of initial body camera video in the days following the incident. There is an ongoing internal investigation by the Rochester Police Department.
