2 Rochester-area congressmen vote to strip Taylor Greene of committee assignments
WASHINGTON, D.C. — House lawmakers have taken the unprecedented step to formally strip Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of her two committee assignments.
With the 230 to 199 vote tally, Taylor Greene will no longer serve on the Education and Labor Committee, nor the Budget Committee.
Taylor Greene has come under fire for, among other things, her embrace of Qanon espousing debunked conspiracy theories and support on social media for violence against elected Democrats.
Earlier, house members on both sides of the aisle engaged in a day of often heated debate over the resolution.
Republicans calling the resolution a “power grab,” while democrats argued that republicans should have taken action themselves.
