A casino fundraiser will be held in Elmira by the Stray Cat TNR group

Elmira, New York – Residents of Chemung County can attend a casino night or donate to support local feral and stray cats.
In Chemung County, REM-TNR is requesting community cooperation for its efforts to catch, neuter (and vaccinate) and release cats. Thanks to public donations, the group was able to assist 30 cats on Walnut Street in Elmira in December. Currently, it is working to assist a colony of more than 20 cats in Pine City.
The cost of spaying and neutering every cat in the colony alone, according to REM-TNR, is approximately $1,800. To care for these cats, the TNR group primarily needs donations of food, kitty litter, and puppy pads in addition to cash. Donations of goods can be made via REM-TNR’s Amazon wishlist, and individuals who would like to donate money could contact REM-TNR via Facebook.
Additionally, community members can attend an upcoming fundraiser to support the spay and neuter fund. On Saturday, February 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., REM-TNR will host an adult casino night at the Elmira VFW on Keefe Street. There will be games, refreshments, and raffles throughout the evening.
Each participant will receive $5,000 in play money upon admission, which costs $20 per person or $30 for two. Groups of four or more will receive an additional $1,000 in play money for each member. Playing Texas Hold ’em, roulette, craps, and blackjack will win attendees raffle tickets.
Additional raffle tickets can be purchased by those who are unlucky with the games or who wish to increase their chances of winning prizes. Quilts and a variety of gift baskets will be among the raffle prizes.
Raffle drawings will begin at 7 p.m., and tables will close at 6:50 p.m. Make sure to enter all of your tickets first if you choose to leave early because people don’t need to be there to win.
