Geneva relocated stormwater facility will help with flood control
Geneva, New York – A stormwater control system in the town of Geneva was moved to a location just off County Road 6.
The retention area has been on Cornell University property west of Carter Rd.
The town thought it was best to move its facility.
Ralph DeFelice agreed to host the facility on his farm east of County Road 6.
The project is funded in part by the Great Lakes Commission’s Conservation Kick program, which aims to keep harmful nutrients out of the lakes.
According to Geneva Town Supervisor Mark Venuti, an added benefit of the move is that the relocated facility can help with flood control in the Kashong Conservation Area.
There is also an effort underway to reuse the former Crooked Lake Canal between Keuka and Seneca Lakes for runoff control.
