Rep. Morelle passes legislation to lower insulin costs for New Yorkers
Rochester, New York – For New Yorkers who struggle to pay for insulin, good news came on Friday.
In order to announce the passing of a bill that will “dramatically” lower the cost of insulin, New York State Congressman Joe Morelle hosted a press conference at URMC.
It will decrease the maximum costs for a 30-day supply and require private health plans to cover the costs of at least one type of insulin for all patients.
“I’ve talked with too many patients in my community that have had to ration their dose, or stop taking this life-saving medication altogether, and that’s unacceptable,” said Congressman Morelle.
After the bill passed onto the Senate, Rep. Morelle is calling for immediate action.
