Rochester people gather to celebrate Christmas at area churches
Rochester, New York – On Friday, people from across the area gathered at Saint Monica’s and Emmanuel’s Church of the Deaf on Genesee Street for Christmas Eve Mass.
The choir could be heard singing some classic holiday tunes.
The service included kids in costumes as part of the Children’s Christmas Pageant.
According to Reverend Raymond Fleming of the Emmanuel Church of the Deaf, service had to be conducted with masks on because of COVID-19 protocols.
“What is the meaning of Christmas? Is it about giving and receiving gifts? No, it’s about God’s gift to us, God’s love for us,” Rev. Fleming said.
For those who plan to attend a Christmas Day Mass, there are several churches hosting, including the Holy Apostles Church in Rochester and the Our Mother of Sorrows in Greece.
