435 new COVID-19 cases Monday and 3159 in past week reported in Monroe County
Rochester, New York — The Monroe County Department of Public Health reported 435 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. The county also reported 26 new deaths that occurred between Oct. 30, 2021, and Nov. 18, 2021.
Over the weekend, 494 people tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday and 334 tested positive on Sunday.
A New York State web page tracks which variants of the virus are spreading in New York and another one tracks breakthrough cases of COVID-19 in vaccinated people.
The county is averaging 451 new cases per day over the past week, with a seven-day rolling average positivity rate of 7.9%, per the latest update to the county’s COVID-19 dashboard on Nov. 22.
The seven-day COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 was 410.37 through Nov. 22.
According to health officials, 81.9% (527,522 people) of eligible Monroe County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 483,322 residents, or 65.1% of the eligible population, are fully vaccinated as of Nov. 22, the last day an update was provided.
Monroe County said in an email Monday 358 COVID patients were hospitalized and 94 were in the ICU as of Nov. 22. On Nov. 19, that graph was removed from the Monroe County COVID dashboard.
According to the CDC’s COVID-19 data tracker, 9.18% of Monroe County’s hospital beds were occupied by COVID patients, and 20.45% of Monroe County’s ICU beds were occupied by COVID-19 patients as of Nov. 16. That metric was no longer on the CDC’s tracked on Nov. 22, 2021.
To date, 1,459 people in Monroe County have died from COVID-19 since March 2020. The county said between March 1, 2021, and Oct. 31, 2021, a total of 198 COVID-19 related deaths were reported: 93% of the deaths in patients younger than 65 were not fully vaccinated and 71% of patients 65 and older were not fully vaccinated.
The Monroe County Department of Public Health resumed providing an update on new COVID-19 cases every weekday on July 27. The CDC’s numbers are updated daily but lag by several days.
