ROC Airport lights up green in support of veterans and active military
Rochester, New York – The Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport will light up green for “Operation Green Light.”
Starting Sunday night “Operation Green Light” is showing support for veterans and active-duty military, especially those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. It also raises awareness of the challenges so many veterans face, and the resources available to them and their families.
“Illuminating our buildings and homes with green lights is just one way we can all show gratitude for the sacrifices and contributions of our veterans and their families,” said Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. “We can all agree that the men and women, who risked and sacrificed their lives fighting to protect our country, and our way of life, deserve our support.”
Residents are encouraged by Monroe County to join in by changing one light bulb inside or outside their home to a green light.
“Operation Green Light” will run from November 7 to November 13.
However, community members are encouraged to keep the light up all year round.
