First service truck rodeo happening this Sunday
Rochester, New York – This Sunday marks the first-ever service truck rodeo.
The event is being organized by Rochester Hope, a new nonprofit, in an effort to match those in need with the services they most urgently require.
More than 20 social assistance organizations will set up their trucks and provide attendees with free services and information.
“We operate in the heart of Rochester’s Latino and Black communities, where people either don’t know about the services available or simply can’t afford the gas to drive to get to them. Our goal is to offer these Service Truck Rodeos on the first Sunday of each month, complementing the current charities we run such as Matthew’s Closet, the Sister Regis Food Cupboard, the community center at St. Michael’s, and others,” Daniel Ruiz, volunteer director of Rochester Hope said.
From 12 to 4 p.m., St. Michael’s Church will host the evet.
