Rochester, New York –  A double shooting left one man dead, and one critically injured on Lyell Avenue.

According to Rochester police, they responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night and found the two victims with gunshot wounds. Police say both men were taken to URMC where one of the victims, 27-year-old Shawndrick Parker, died shortly after arrival. According to police, the other victim, a man in his 50s, was in critical condition following the shooting.

Friday afternoon, police said his condition had improved and that he is expected to survive, but they reported injuries are likely to be “life-altering”. According to police, the two men were in a parking lot when at least one suspect approached them and opened fire. They believe Parker was the intended target, and that the man in his 50s was struck by a stray bullet.

At this time, no suspects are in custody.

A few hours later, around 4:30 a.m., police say a man in his 40s was taken to the hospital after being found shot on the 500 block of Lyell Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 423-9300.
