Zero gravity plane comes to Frederick Douglass – Greater Rochester International Airport

Rochester, New York – Everybody wants to know what it’s like to be an astronaut? On Sunday afternoon about 20 people got a firsthand at how it feels to be in space.
Brought by DePrez Travel, a zero-gravity plane was at the Frederick Douglass – Greater Rochester International Airport.
According to Ron Shuboney, he had a lifelong dream of going to space and he didn’t think twice before signing up for the flight.
“I sent the article to my wife and she said go for it,” Shuboney said. “I was kind of hoping for her to be the voice of reason, but she said go ahead.”
He and 16 others paid almost $7,000 to experience zero gravity.
Steve Fentress is the planetarium director for the Rochester Museum and Science Center who has been studying gravity and weightlessness for years.
“I am looking forward to being able to report back on a personal basis,” Fentress said.
After takeoff, the Zero-G group experienced 15 different periods of weightlessness.
“I walked on the ceiling, lots of flipping around,” Shuboney said about his experience in the plane. “People spinning and coming together.”
“I did a couple of flips,” Fentress said. “In zero-g you need very little force to move around.”
Both Shuboney and Fentress said they would do it again.
