Tops donates $2K from Apple Fest to Hilton-Parma food shelf
Rochester, New York – The neighborhood food pantry received a much-needed boost for Halloween Thursday. Tops Friendly Markets donated many food carts and a large donation to the Hilton-Parma Emergency Food Shelf.
With its Big Wheel Spin to Win promotion at the Hilton Apple Festival, Tops raised $2,335 for the pantry, its largest donation ever.
A dollar was spent to spin the wheel at the festival and win a bag of apples or Tops gift cards. All earnings went to Hilton-Parma’s food bank.
“This donation is a large portion of our annual income. We utilize it for everything—Thanksgiving meals, pantry director Tina Zebulske said. About 200 Thanksgiving feasts are planned. That money goes toward special dietary items, filling our shelves, and giving back to the community.”
She stressed that while donations are needed year-round, they are especially beneficial during the holidays.
