The Village of Brockport commemorates a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
Rochester, New York – 22 years following the September 11, 2001 attacks, the people of Brockport reunited.
At the Firefighters Memorial Monument on Wednesday morning, the Brockport Fire District had its 9/11 opening ceremony. Members of the US Military and first responders attended the ceremony.
The banner at the monument was retired by the Brockport ROTC. Michael Barbato, a veteran and the executive director of Coffee for Cops, led the opening prayer. Up until the conclusion of the ceremony, there will be an honor guard in uniform.
The Memorial Bell sounded at 8:46 a.m., the time the first jet smashed into the World Trade Center that morning, in observance of a firefighter’s death in the line of duty.
At 6:30 p.m., the closing ceremony will begin. In addition, a day-long, closed vigil will take place, during which TAPS will be played, just as it has for the last 22 years.
The 9/11 Remembrance Trailer, the memorial, and the fire district’s firefighters are being tagged by the Brockport Fire District for their visits.
