The University of Rochester offers prospective medical students a surgery simulation

Rochester, New York – On Saturday, the University of Rochester School of Medicine held a practical surgical simulation.

High school students in the area who were curious about professions in healthcare were given the chance to experience fixing orthopedic ailments.

Among other operations, high school students were shown by orthopedic doctors from URMC’s Department of Orthopedics what goes into simulated joint replacement surgery and bone fracture treatment.

The occasion was a component of the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) at the University of Rochester, which aims to foster diversity and skill in the healthcare industry.

High school students can participate in immersive experiences with doctors, researchers, and educators through STEP, which is funded by New York State.

Participants acquire vital skills and obtain an understanding of the ever-changing medical field through experiential learning.
