The people of Rochester take part in National Drug Take Back Day

Rochester, New York – The 27th National Drug Take Back Day was held on October 26, 2024. It was put on by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). People in the neighborhood can safely get rid of their old medications at these take-backs.
Seven local Wegmans shops took part in some of these takebacks, which were organized in collaboration with local police departments.
People all over Rochester were told to look through their homes for prescription drugs that were expired, unused, or not needed. The takeback on Saturday was only for pills and patches. The D.E.A. says this helps stop unintentional poisonings and overdoses and also discourages drug abuse.
Anyone who brought medicine could do so without being identified, and no questions were asked.
With the help of the Irondequoit Police, the Wegmans on Titus Avenue had a takeback. People in our community who make it possible say that the drug takesbacks still make a difference in the Rochester area.
“It’s a very important resource to have in our community,” said Dr. Tisha Smith, Director of Addiction Services for Monroe County. “People can come and safely get rid of their medications.” “The amount of organization and the number of partnerships that have formed because of these events make us very happy.”
Every year, there are two National Drug Take Back Days, and people in the area can use many resources all year long.
