The George Eastman Award is accepted by Goldie Hawn
Rochester, New York – When Goldie Hawn won the George Eastman Award Tuesday night in Rochester, a Hollywood legend was honored with great distinction.
Her well-known contributions to film are honored with the George Eastman Award.
“Without this, without George Eastman, we couldn’t be making films the way we’re doing it today,” Hawn stated before to the event. “We’re now in the digital world, and all things have to change, but extraordinary, like an honor really to be able to be chosen as someone that you would like to have up on your wall.”
Hawn, 78, is a successful author, producer, director, and Academy Award-winning actor. In addition, she established The Goldie Hawn Foundation, a public organization dedicated to improving the lives of children.
During her winning speech, Hawn stated, “I just want to say that being here tonight means the world to me,” “They do good things after we earn our prizes, but I think this evening’s honesty is really different from other award ceremonies. Because we now understand that we are standing on all of the foundations that enabled our effort.”
In 1955, the George Eastman Award was created.
Lauren Bacall, Louise Brooks, Charlie Chaplin, Gary Cooper, Cecil B. DeMille, Michael Douglas, Greta Garbo, Lillian Gish, Audrey Hepburn, Michael Keaton, Gregory Peck, Mary Pickford, Julia Roberts, Martin Scorsese, James Stewart, Meryl Streep, Gloria Swanson, and, most recently, Jodie Foster are among the other film artists who have been recognized with the award.
