The airport in Rochester is prepared for a surge of passengers as Labor Day draws near

Rochester, New York – Since Monday is Labor Day, many are taking their final vacation before the summer ends or classes resume. This year, domestic air travel is expected to rise by 9%, according to AAA.

According to airport director Andy Moore, there is usually a surge in traffic at the airport around Labor Day, with an estimated 25,000 extra travelers this year. At the Rochester airport, this July was the busiest in almost six years. In addition, the airport saw its highest daily passenger count in six years on two days in August.

It’s fantastic that there has been a rise in both business and leisure travelers, according to Moore.

According to Moore, the Thursday before Labor Day is usually when the travel surge begins. He is asking folks to be patient and arrive early for TSA screening.

Moore also discussed the addition of new non-stop routes to the airport in Rochester. Spirit Airlines will soon provide flights to Fort Lauderdale, and Southwest Airlines will soon operate flights to Las Vegas. Apart from Concord and Charlotte, Avelo Airlines will also fly to Lakeland, Florida.
