Santabarbara: Delgado selection gives hope for upstate lawmakers to fill bigger roles
New York State – From some upstate lawmakers, New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s choice to fill the role of Lieutenant Governor is getting good feedback.
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara (D-Rotterdam) shared his thoughts on Hochul’s selection of Congressman Antonio Delgado to fill the role and also about whether he feels Hochul’s honeymoon period is over after the recent controversy involving the arrest of her previous Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin, who is under indictment accused of campaign finance fraud.
There’s a lot of work to do. Congressman Delgado, I’m glad to see someone from upstate is in the Lt. Governor position right now. I think for upstate that gives us some hope upstate people can be in these positions, but we all have a job to do there is no honeymoon period,” Santabarbara said.
According to Assemblyman Santabarbara, right now Hochul should be focused on inflation and the economy.
He praised Hochul for passing the state gas tax suspension, a piece of legislation he proposed, that got passed into law with the state budget.
From June 1 until the end of the year, it will save New Yorkers 16 cents per gallon.
