Rochester Police Department report morning homicide
Rochester, New York – According to the Rochester Police Department, on Sunday morning the city’s 67th homicide took place within the City’s Maplewood Historic District.
Officers were called to Dewey Avenue and Knickerbocker Avenue in Rochester at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday responding to a report of a man shot.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man in his 30s suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to police, the victim was shot near the corner and collapsed a short distance away.
At this time there are no suspects in custody, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notification.
The RPD’s Major Crimes Unit is conducting the investigation and is asking anyone with information to call 911, or the Major Crimes Unit at 585-428-7157, or Crime Stoppers at 585-423-9300.
