A 20-year-old man is charged after a vehicle theft over the weekend in Penfield.

Jordan Brooks from Rochester is charged with criminal possession of the stolen property, grand larceny, and unauthorized motor vehicle use.

According to Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies, the investigation began after a Penfield resident posted he was selling his vehicle, a 2014 Honda CRV, on Facebook Marketplace. The victim arranged for potential buyers to come to his home to look at the vehicle.

Deputies say four people arrived at the house in a Kia Spectra, Sunday around 4:30 p.m.

According to deputies, the men looked at the CRV, which was reportedly running in the driveway, three of them got inside and drove away. The fourth person reportedly drove off in the Spectra.

The victim called 911. As deputies were responding, they say a crash was reported in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Scribner Road. They say that crash involved the Spectra, which reportedly drove away from the scene before becoming disabled around Browncroft Boulevard and Creek Street.

Deputies allege Brooks was driving the Spectra, which they say had been stolen, and that he was involved in the theft of the CRV.

Deputies continue to search for the three other suspects and Brooks was remanded to jail for an outstanding assault warrant.

Deputies add no one was hurt in the Atlantic Avenue crash and the stolen CRV was reportedly recovered on Fairgate Street.
