Rochester business community helping people in need

Rochester, New York — In order to give people in need a better holiday, dozens from the business community spent a morning in the parking lot of Frontier Field, sorting food and packing a truck.

The Small Business Council of Rochester, through its SBC Cares 2021 Thanksgiving Appeal, is delivering more than 2,200 Thanksgiving meals to charities in the Rochester area.

“It’s basically a box full of everything they need for a family’s Thanksgiving meal, including a $25 gift card so they can purchase a turkey fresh for the holiday,” said Marcus Cortellini, chair of the SBC Cares Committee.

They’ll be delivered to charities on Saturday, which will distribute them.

“The demand is well over what we’re able to provide and it’s pretty eye-opening actually to see the real need in this community and at least we’re able to fulfill part of that need,” Cortellini said.

According to Cortellini, the group aims to provide 2,000 boxes every year and says they’ll reach that goal once again.
