Report details allegations of sexual harassment and retribution against the town supervisor of Irondequoit

Irondequoit, New York – A 34-page report acquired Tuesday after an inquiry into allegations against Irondequoit Town Supervisor Andrae Evans details allegations of sexual harassment and retribution.
The paper claims that a female employee who was hired in January 2024 claims Evans made sexually suggestive remarks that caused her discomfort throughout her time there. Later on, she quit.
According to the investigation, Evans allegedly made offensive remarks to the employee on multiple occasions regarding her legs, breasts, and even some of the clothes she wore to work, referring to some of them as “schoolgirl outfits.”
She also said she felt uncomfortable with Evans’ comments on Monica Lewinsky and former President Bill Clinton.
She told detectives that Evans stated, “Don’t tempt me,” in response to her suggestion that she might go to the gym one day after work to sit by the pool.
The accuser claimed that she was so uneasy following that comment that she started asking her classmates for guidance on how to respond to the circumstance and that she occasionally experienced anxiety attacks.
The staffer met with Evans in August to discuss her worries about his behavior, according to the report.
According to the article, Evans made the decision to stop communicating with her. According to the woman, Evans was not communicating and retaliated by taking away her job duties.
Evans asserted that the employee was missing important meetings and that she had made similar claims of sexual harassment at previous workplaces.
After nine months on the job, the accuser said she quit due to the work atmosphere.
According to the investigation, several municipal employees’ reports that Evans made other sexually suggestive remarks that made them uneasy support the allegations’ veracity. One instance was a purportedly offensive remark regarding a hot dog and Evans’ anatomy that was made at the Fourth of July celebration.
According to witnesses, Evans is generally expressive and can be “touchy” when it comes to hugs with coworkers. The report claims that some people found his embraces “weird.”
Others assert that they have never experienced even “a drop” of Evans’ sexual harassment. Evans and other male employees are allegedly making “locker room remarks,” according to other witnesses.
Evans acknowledged making some of the remarks, but he rejected or remembered others differently, according to the studies’ conclusions. Many of them were unsupported by witnesses.
Evans most likely “does not have an understanding of appropriate workplace boundaries,” according to the findings.
Overall, the inquiry confirms that Evans violated the town’s sexual harassment and anti-harassment regulations in relation to one complaint and one of two retaliation claims.
Evans stated that, under his lawyers’ instructions, he is unable to comment on the report. Evans was asked to step down by the Irondequoit Town Board on Tuesday. Evans announced his intention to run for reelection on Friday.
